About Run4Rosie

Run4Rosie has been created in memory of Rosie Carter-Desai who tragically passed away suddenly aged 19 in 2013.

This is a charity run event in the picturesque Hampshire village St. Mary Bourne. The aim is to show off the village Rosie called home and create a community event raising money for our charities SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) Action & Friends of St. Mary Bourne School (where Rose attended as a child).

ALL of the money raised through entry fees, merchandise, BBQ, bar & stalls will go directly to both charities.

Please come and support us and Run4Rosie to keep her memory alive.

The lady behind the name.

Let us introduce to you Rosie Carter-Desai and our logo. The images inside the pink rose (a flower that has become synonymous to Rosie for the family) are iconic places in the village that also connects Rosie & our Run4Rosie event.

Rosie was a fun, strong & beautiful woman. She was a known villager of St. Mary Bourne and many will have fantastic memories of her.

Some may have been to the village school with her (a building that will feature early on the course). The FOTS, Friends of The School, is one of the charities we are supporting.

Some will remember her working at the George Inn & also enjoying a tipple or two as she got older! This building in the centre of the village will also feature as you run or walk the Run4Rosie course.

Rose also lived across the road from the lovely St. Peter’s Church. This is where she was christened and also where her memorial service was held, of which people were queueing outside the door to pay their respects to the woman they remember and loved. As such this is also a building to admire on the course.

Some will also remember seeing her cycling to the horse yard down Gangbridge Lane (which you will also pass) in the early hours to look after her horse Tully.

Rosie tragically died in 2013 of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) aged just 19, thus being why SUDEP Action is the other charity we are supporting.

So as you Run4Rosie as well as admiring the lovely Bourne Valley you can think of Rose and all the places that meant so much to her; bringing her memory to life.
